The Don Quixote route and the figure of Miguel de Cervantes are unique assets that deserve an experience to match: not a leaflet, not a conventional audio guide, but something only this town in La Mancha could offer. The City Council and iUrban were looking for a technology solution that would turn the literary legacy into a memorable, coherent tourism experience.

Miguel de Cervantes brought back with generative AI

The solution is Cervantes IA, a hyper-realistic avatar with generative Artificial Intelligence that gives voice to Miguel de Cervantes himself and acts as tour guide of Alcázar de San Juan. The avatar answers questions about the town's history and curiosities, queries about the writer's life and work, and practical recommendations on where to eat and stay, all in the voice and tone of Cervantes himself. The experience is deployed at three physical points —City Hall, Tourist Office and the military fortress—, turning the whole city into a narrative route with Cervantes as the common thread.
