Tu Cuento en la Cocina is a mobile AR app developed for Disney, Ferran Adrià and Telefónica. The application complements the children's recipe book based on Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel stories, and turns it into a gamified experience that unites cooking, gastronomy and family storytelling. Each recipe becomes a personalised comic that families can experience through the phone's camera, encouraging healthy habits and shared moments at home. Distributed in Spain and Latin America, it has been downloaded by thousands of Spanish-speaking families.

01 The challenge

Bringing Disney's magic and Ferran Adrià's creativity to every home.

When Ferran Adrià, Telefónica and El Bulli Foundation teamed up with Disney to create a children's recipe book based on Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel stories, they needed a digital complement worthy of the project. The challenge was twofold. On one hand, to translate a physical book of great culinary quality into the Augmented Reality universe with the sophistication the client demanded and the tenderness the family audience called for. On the other, to turn each recipe into a gamified adventure in which parents and children cook together, encouraging healthy habits through Disney's visual storytelling.

02 The solution

A virtual kitchen where every recipe becomes your own Disney story.

The solution is a native mobile app that works as a gamified virtual kitchen and as an Augmented Reality layer over the physical book. Every page of the recipe book becomes a little adventure: mini-games linked to the steps of each recipe, challenges for parents and children, cooking tips from Ferran Adrià and the chance to generate a personalised comic with Disney characters in which the family becomes the protagonist. The product unites gastronomy, gamification and visual storytelling in a single experience, complementing the printed book and multiplying family interaction time around the recipe book.
