Certest Biotec

25,000 m²
of Europe's leading biotechnology plant
Case summary

An interactive virtual twin of Certest Biotec's facilities that lets you tour its biotechnology plant from anywhere in the world.

Certest Biotec is one of the fastest-growing biotechnology companies in Europe, headquartered in the Río Gállego II industrial estate in Zaragoza. In recent years it has undergone a deep industrial transformation: new buildings, new factory lines and new research centres. To showcase this growth and make its facilities accessible to international clients, partners and investors, Certest has developed the virtual twin of its biotechnology plant: an interactive 3D model that lets you tour the 25,000 square metres of facilities from anywhere in the world, with no travel and no access restrictions.

01 The challenge

Bringing a biotechnology plant to the world.

Certest, in the midst of its European growth phase, faced a challenge shared by many expanding industrial companies: how to show international clients, partners and investors the size, complexity and quality of its facilities without depending on the physical visit. A biotechnology plant also adds specific biosecurity, confidentiality and controlled-access restrictions, which multiply the operational friction of every sales visit. The challenge was to design a digital tool that would allow the plant to be toured in detail from any device, showcase the company's years of transformation and reduce the commercial cost of every visit without losing the demonstrative power of the industrial product.

02 The solution

Showing the plant interactively without depending on the physical visit.

The solution is the virtual twin of all of Certest's facilities, an interactive 3D model that recreates in detail the nine buildings, the industrial lines, the laboratories and the complementary facilities of the headquarters. The tour is navigated like an interactive infographic with points of interest that explain the specific processes, areas and capabilities of each space, making it the visual reference piece for sales presentations, partner meetings and corporate showcases. Its strategic value doesn't end with the modelling: the information and data are managed through a customised CMS that allows them to be updated in real time, so the twin evolves with the company itself and incorporates each new line, building or capability without redoing the model.

Key learnings

What this case teaches the sector.

01

The virtual twin reduces the commercial cost of each visit to the plant.

In industry, factory visits are an asset, but also an operational friction: schedules, travel, access restrictions. A digital twin that the salesperson teaches from their tablet in any meeting saves +40% minutes in explaining processes without losing demonstrative power.

02

Biotechnology has access barriers that digitalization overcomes.

In sectors with biosecurity, confidentiality and critical environments, not all physical visits are possible. A virtual twin allows the plant to be shown to international or restricted profiles without compromising access protocols, opening the presentation of the industrial product to audiences that were previously out of reach of the commercial market.

03

An updatable digital twin is an asset, not a static photo.

Growing industrial plants change every year: new lines, new buildings, new capabilities. Designing the twin with a custom CMS that updates in real time turns the initial investment into a living product that evolves with the company, without the need to recreate the model every time.

04

Industrial growth needs to be visualized in order to be understood.

An annual report or a corporate brochure do not convey the magnitude of 25,000 square meters spread across nine buildings. A virtual tour does. When a company has invested in transformation, presenting it in an interactive format multiplies the perception of its industrial maturity and strengthens its positioning among investors.
