Alcázar de San Juan is one of the towns of La Mancha on the Don Quixote route, with deep historical ties to the figure of Miguel de Cervantes. The City Council, together with the tourism experience integrator iUrban, was looking for a unique, surprising way to offer visitors the town's history and curiosities, beyond traditional signage and information leaflets. The answer is Cervantes IA: a hyper-realistic avatar with generative Artificial Intelligence that gives voice to Miguel de Cervantes himself and becomes the official tour guide of Alcázar de San Juan, deployed at three key points in the city.
A unique tour guide for the Don Quixote route
Alcázar de San Juan faces a challenge shared by many mid-sized Spanish towns of great heritage value: how to differentiate its tourism offer in a saturated national market, and how to serve visitors with a level of content and personalisation that its operational resources limit. The Don Quixote route and the figure of Miguel de Cervantes are unique assets that deserve an experience to match: not a leaflet, not a conventional audio guide, but something only this town in La Mancha could offer. The City Council and iUrban were looking for a technology solution that would turn the literary legacy into a memorable, coherent tourism experience.
