Interactive infographic for veterinarians with 3D organ visualisation, clinical scenarios and ACVIM classification of canine mitral valve disease and its treatment

CEVA Santé Animale is one of the three fastest-growing veterinary pharmaceutical companies in the world, present in more than 110 countries. In canine cardiology, myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) is the most frequent acquired heart disease in small elderly dogs, and its diagnosis, classification and treatment demand from the veterinarian a combination of anatomical knowledge, clinical judgement and constant updating with the recognised veterinary guidelines. To support professionals in that process, CEVA has developed together with Imascono Health an interactive infographic that brings together in a single application all the clinical knowledge on MMVD and its treatment with Cardalis.

01 The challenge

Translating a complex clinical consensus into an everyday tool

Myxomatous mitral valve disease is the most frequent acquired heart disease in small elderly dogs, with a delicate clinical progression, associated cardiac and pulmonary complications and a therapeutic decision that must be adjusted to each patient's condition. The international ACVIM clinical criteria and the recognised veterinary guidelines provide the frame of reference, but consulting them in the veterinarian's day-to-day is slow and scattered across specialised literature, protocols and data sheets. CEVA was looking for a digital tool that would bring together all the advanced clinical knowledge in a visual, intuitive format, capable of supporting professionals in diagnosis, classification and the therapeutic decision.

02 The solution

The canine heart, explorable and interactive

The solution is a multi-device digital application specialised in canine myxomatous mitral valve disease, developed by Imascono Health for CEVA. The tool lets veterinarians visualise the patient's different organs in 3D and their relation to the pathology, access interactive infographics, scientific literature and specific clinical content, and integrate the diagnosis of MMVD with its classification according to ACVIM criteria. Professionals can simulate four clinical scenarios with different levels of severity, observe the possible cardiac and pulmonary reactions, understand key processes such as RAAS activation and anticipate symptoms before they appear, adjusting treatment in a personalised way and integrating the information on Cardalis into every therapeutic decision.

Key learnings

What this case teaches the sector.

01

The veterinarian no longer consults the literature, they explore it

Today's clinical professional doesn't have the time that traditional literature searches require. When the recognised veterinary guidelines, the ACVIM classification and the scientific evidence are integrated into a visual, interactive tool, looking things up stops being an obstacle and becomes part of the clinical workflow itself.

02

A drug is only as good as the decision that goes with it

In canine cardiology, choosing the right treatment doesn't depend only on the drug's efficacy, but on the clinical judgement that prescribes it. Giving veterinarians a tool that integrates knowledge of the disease and of Cardalis multiplies the product's therapeutic value: it informs the decision, it doesn't just execute it.

03

Seeing the organ in 3D anticipates the symptom in the patient

Visually understanding the progression of a heart disease and observing its possible cardiac and pulmonary reactions in an interactive 3D model lets veterinarians anticipate symptoms before they show in the patient. Clinical anticipation stops being accumulated experience and becomes accessible knowledge.

04

Clinical material is also part of the pharmaceutical company's value proposition

The big veterinary pharmaceutical companies compete on molecular efficacy and price. In recent years, the quality of the clinical material and the digital tools that accompany the product has become a real competitive differentiator: veterinarians prefer to work with the brands that help them decide better.
