Case summary

An immersive experience with Augmented Reality and an interactive WebApp to get to know and try out Movistar Prosegur Alarmas devices before signing up.

Movistar Prosegur Alarmas is the joint venture between Telefónica and Prosegur specialised in security solutions for the home and small business. In a sector where the technical product is hard to explain in a store or an ad, the company was looking for a way to bring its devices closer to customers without physical demonstrations. The answer is an immersive experience combining Augmented Reality and an interactive WebApp, accessible from any device via QR code in the physical stores, that lets customers visualise the devices in their own home before making the purchase decision.

01 The challenge

Explaining a technical system without having to install it

Home alarm systems are a complex product: they combine technical devices (sensors, cameras, control panels), professional services (alarm receiving centre, response times) and an emotional decision (protecting the family). Explaining all this in a physical store with a salesperson and a display unit was the traditional way, but also the most limiting: customers don't see the system in their own home, don't experience how it would work in their daily life and don't make the purchase decision at a calm moment. Movistar Prosegur Alarmas was looking for a digital solution that would extend the store experience to any time and place.

02 The solution

A virtual home to test security from any phone

The solution combines two complementary technology layers. On one hand, an Augmented Reality experience that lets customers visualise the security devices in their real home and explore their features from their own phone. On the other, an interactive WebApp that simulates a virtual home where users test the alarms, activate the sensors, check the cameras and access detailed information on each product. Both experiences are distributed via QR codes placed in Movistar Prosegur Alarmas' physical stores, creating a smooth phygital bridge between the point of sale and the customer's final decision.

Key learnings

What this case teaches the sector.

01

A technical product is better understood by trying it than by reading about it.

In sectors where the product combines complex hardware with professional services, the data sheet or the catalogue isn't enough. Letting customers try the system in their own home through Augmented Reality or an interactive WebApp turns a static catalogue into a product the customer experiences directly.

02

The QR code is the most effective phygital bridge.

Distributing a digital experience within the physical point of sale requires no specific hardware or additional installation. A simple QR code in the store connects the customer to the interactive WebApp immediately, using the phone they already carry in their pocket and the comfort of their own space.

03

Simulating the customer's home lowers the barrier to purchase.

For home-related products, the virtual home is a very powerful sales tool. When customers see the devices in a setting they recognise as their own, the purchase decision stops being abstract and becomes a concrete, contextualised, visually understandable choice.

04

A 25% saving in the purchase decision transforms the sales economics.

Cutting by a quarter the time a customer takes to decide increases conversion, frees up the sales team and improves the buyer's own experience. In a sector with tight margins and long sales cycles, that saving is direct profitability and verifiable operational impact.
